LAYERS is a new exhibition, bringing together the work of the PENISULAR ARTISTS, a new collective of professional artists living and working on the Gosport peninsula in their first group show.
The exhibition begins with its private view on Thursday 18th January, starting at 6pm, and continues the following day from 11am. The exhibition will run until the 17th February.
You are more than welcome to join us for the PV and we extend a warm welcome to all!

Featuring work from Sue Eves’ Rollered collection and Krasimira Butseva’s well received, Slices of Red (pieces of which have been featured on Lens Culture and Source among others); Fragments aims to create a two-way conversation about the lived experience, and our understanding of what is real and what is not, whether that is down to human imagination, as in the case of Sue’s work Rollered or due to some different system, such as that used in propaganda, represented by Krasimira’s work questioning the reality of the photographic image in relation to Eastern European communism.
Sue Eves, Synapse (2016)
It does this by situating the work of these two very different artists in such a way that can be read either as individual collections or together, moving from one side of the room to the other, looking at the concept of reality and what impact our psychology and lived experience has on our own version of what can be considered “real”.

The private view begins at 5pm and continues until 7pm at our new base in the heart of historic Gosport. Both artists will be in attendance and on-hand to speak more about their work and food and drink will be provided by Sticks Contemporary.

From Animatronics, to models, prosthetics, to film we have a wide variety of brilliant visual treats for fans of fx and as always the exhibition is completely free to view although donations are always welcome.
If you are a filmmaker and looking for talent to work on your next production you could do worse than having a chat with TankFall FX! Like Hampshire Film Co we have been hugely impressed by the quality and skill of their work.
If you cannot make it to the launch we are back open next Thursday and then every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until the exhibition ends on July 30th.

This new show offers a chance for members of the public to see what goes on behind the creation of a piece of art. It enables us to see the process of making art, and as this is the first in a series of exhibition detailing these emerging artists and their move into being artists out on their own, the progress they make on their work throughout their final year of study, culminating in their degree show to be held at Portsmouth University and in London next year.
The private view runs between 5:30-7:30pm this evening and all the artists will be on hand to discuss their work with you and answer any questions. The Live Art Local CIC/Sticks gallery team will also be there to discuss and answer any questions you might have about us and what we plan for the future.
There will also be free food and drink and if we can make them in time lovely homemade mince pies and mulled wine to get you in the festive spirit!
Don’t know where sticks is, don’t worry, you can find us in the Fareham Shopping Centre at Unit 79a just inside opposite Millets
Can’t make the preview don’t worry we are open every Thursday – Saturday 10:30 am – 3pm

The post HOPE: Private View Thursday 11th June Fareham first appeared on .]]>The evening was a great success, fantastic local artists we know and love, came down. Artists we’d never met before turned up; shop workers, local press…… a right mixture of all sorts of people.
It was a great chance to tell people and the local paper what we hope to achieve and how as part of our plan, we aim to be the first autism friendly gallery. We have done a lot to make this a reality; including creating an art gallery social story; the use of PECs, autism art drop ins, a chill out area, and low level lighting. You can even download a copy of our social story from this site, or through the Live Art Local site.
