After a year off due to our move to Gosport, the Sticks Open will return this year.\u00a0 However, unlike in previous years, where it was known as the Fareham Open,\u00a0<\/strong>from now on our open art competition and exhibition will be known as\u00a0DEHISCENCE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n dehiscence<\/span><\/b>\u00a0–\u00a0(biology)<\/span>\u00a0release<\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0material<\/span>\u00a0by\u00a0splitting<\/span>\u00a0open<\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0an\u00a0organ<\/span>\u00a0or\u00a0tissue;<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0natural<\/span>\u00a0bursting open\u00a0at\u00a0maturity<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n of\u00a0a\u00a0fruit<\/span>\u00a0or\u00a0other<\/span>\u00a0reproductive<\/span>\u00a0body<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0release<\/span>\u00a0seeds<\/span>\u00a0or\u00a0spores<\/span>\u00a0or\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0bursting<\/span>\u00a0open of\u00a0a\u00a0surgically<\/span>\u00a0closed<\/span>\u00a0wound<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Artists working in any media (including, but not limited to print, painting, drawing, photography, traditional craft materials, sculpture, digital, film, and sound) are invited to submit up to three works responding to the theme in any way they wish, interpreting the title in a way that means something to them.<\/p>\n Artists can enter up to three pieces for consideration, and work must not exceed 1m x 2m in size<\/p>\n Selected pieces will be exhibited at Sticks Contemporary between 25th\u00a0 August – 22nd September, with the PV taking place between 6-8pm on Saturday 25th August.<\/p>\n One artist will be selected to win a \u00a3100 prize, solo exhibition and 1-month long residency.\u00a0 The solo show will take place between the 8th November and 15th December<\/p>\n Deadline for entry is 12am on 1st August 2018.\u00a0 Selected artists will be notified by 14th August 2018 with work to be delivered to Sticks Contemporary on wither 18th or 19th August, more details will be given to selected artists when they are notified.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Entry costs \u00a35 for up to 3 works, Sticks Affiliate Artists can enter for FREE but must provide their username otherwise they will be charged.\u00a0 Failure to provide a username will result in your work being excluded from the selection process.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Please make payment below, you will be taken to the entry form upon completion of payment.\u00a0 If this does not happen please contact us straight away and we will email you the form link<\/p>\n
